Fitness Column 12 - Benefits of Leg Endurance Training!

Our legs are our main engines and in our exercise routines, it’s vital we use them for a full beneficiary effect! Without training the legs your overall body power and strength will never surpass what you’re physically capable of!

Because the legs have such big muscle groups within them, when we train them the body naturally produces testosterone which helps us recover and build. Although men naturally produce more testosterone, females do produce it and the use of testosterone has very good benefits for building and repair in both sexes.

What are good exercises to help strengthen and build?

Deadlifts – An all-round wonder exercise! Although primarily you’ll work your legs, deadlifts work the whole body and promote all round strength.

Squats – Absolutely brilliant for the lower part of your body. When squatting you’ll increase you core strength no end.

Explosive jumps – Doing exercises such as squat jumps, lunge jumps, box jumps and floor to sky jumps only require body weight but are SO effective. Introducing explosive movements to workouts can take your muscular endurance to the next level.

Lunges – Lunges are so varied and not only encourage ankle, knee and core stability, they also help our balance and posture. There’s a handful of ways to complete the lunge and for me it’s a personal favourite. (Especially if you want to feel it in your glutes!)

Recently, my members and I have been visiting Castle Hill steps! Although an eye sore for some, they have proven to be the ideal exercise location for building stamina, endurance and contributing in steady weight loss. We’re normally there for 45 minutes and I’d encourage you to come along if you’re interested in building leg strength. It’s always better to do it with other people!
