Fitness Column 11 - Summer is coming!

So, we’re now hitting what should be the summer months. A time of beer gardens, bbq’s and summer festivals.

There’s nothing better than an ice cold beer or cider in the sun with the people you love around you and food cooking on the bbq!

A lot of people revolve their training around this time of year, usually a holiday, wedding or special occasion. It’s great that these events happen as they give us goals to reach.

If you’re going away this summer or even just want to feel better in your body while the sun has got his hat on, here’s a few things I’d suggest to help you along your way!

Stay hydrated – It’s easy to get carried away with activates when the sun is hitting 30 degrees but it’s really important to keep your body and mind lubricated with H20!

Jolt your workouts – We all go through the motions of working out. If you want extra results in your training, make the most of the exercise. Put the phone down between sets and really push yourself. Explosive sets are much more effective.

Track your consumption – I don’t mean count everything you’re consuming by the marcos! I mean just be wary of what is going in. Enjoy yourself but don’t be surprised with how you feel the day after if you’re having too much of a blow out!

Size Matters - Smaller, more frequent meals will help increase your metabolism. Aim for three meals a day, with small snacks in between. Make sure you get lean protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats each time.
